Make Desktop Icon For Google Drive Folder On Mac? Rating: 4,9/5 2668 votes

I have a similar yet different issue using a Macbook: I know you can change the colors of the folders with a Mac, yet I would like to be able to find the stuff lets say, that I downloaded yesterday (and finder does not always seem to keep track of all the downloads, or files or folder that I open or use. I wonder is other Mac users have had this issue? Also finder only lets you get specific about: Today, Yesterday or Past Week, I wonder is there a way to modify or some sort of hack so that I can see stuff from last month or three months ago? I keep a messy desktop and never downloaded Google Desktop for the Mac, (now its discontinued or not supported) so sometimes I have trouble locating saved text boxes or other items from the past. [ Sorry if this seems like thread crashing, I thought it was kind of related to keeping files easily retrievable on the computer desktop. Spotlight helps but it seems you have to remember the exact name etc.

Backup & Sync Replaces Google Drive and Google Photos Uploader RELATED: Before we get into it, let’s first talk a little bit about what Backup and Sync actually is. If you’re a heavy Google user, you’re probably already aware of Google’s other sync tools: Google Drive and Google Photos Uploader. Those have both now been rolled into Backup and Sync, so you can control all of your files, videos, images, and more from one app. This is where you’ll control which folders from your Drive are synced to and from your PC or Mac, as well as specifying which image folders should get backed up to your Photos library.

Google Drive is really the core of the Backup and Sync tool, so if you never used the Drive app then a bit of explanation may be in order. Essentially, this new tool will allow you to sync your Google Drive cloud storage with your computer—be that the entire Drive or just specific files and folders.

Access Google Drive with a free Google account (for personal use) or G Suite account (for business use). Icons in Google Drive for your Mac/PC Icons in Google Drive for your Mac/PC closely resemble their online counterparts. Google Docs synced to your Google Drive folder are identical, and they'll show a green check mark over the icon when they're successfully synced. Other file types will have icons identical to how they show on your desktop.

But many users think it is an arduous task to partition hard drive, so in this tutorial, we will goes through the detailed steps of partitioning an empty external hard drive in Mac and PC. Partitioning External Hard Drive on Mac; Part 2. Partitioning an External Hard Drive on Windows; Part 3. Recovering Lost Data from External Hard Drive; Part 1. How to partition an external hard drive for mac and windows]. Possibly the best solution to using a hard drive with both Windows and Mac without the use of third-party software is creating two partitions on the drive, one for Windows and one for Mac. Besides, you can format an external hard drive for Mac and Windows by converting HFS+ to FAT32 or exFAT without losing any data. Step 1: Backup Data in HFS+ Partition on Mac Just transfer all useful files out from the external hard drive to other devices on Mac.

These are then treated as local files on the computer, so your important stuff is always up to date on every computer you own (and in the cloud). The only exception here are Google Docs files (Sheets, Docs, Slides)—those are still online-only, as Backup and Sync will not download them for offline access. It will, however, put icons in the Google Drive folder so you can double-click them as if they were normal documents (you’ll just need an internet connection to view and edit them.) Backup and Sync also adds one more tool to the equation: the option to back up specific folders from your PC or Mac to your Google Drive. For example, I use Google Drive to store almost everything, so it’s accessible from all of my other device. But the screenshots folder on my Windows machine isn’t in my Drive folder—it’s in my PC’s Pictures folder. With Backup and Sync, I can then access folder on any of my other devices, any time.
