External Harddrive For Mac And Xbox

External Harddrive For Mac And Xbox Rating: 4,8/5 5092 votes

I wanted to get a 1TB external hard drive for my 500GB Xbox One so I could store more games. I was wondering if it is now possible to partition the hard drive into 2 500GB sections, one for Xbox games and one for Mac files/back up. And what external hard drive is the best for this. So i purchased a 3TB External Hard drive (MyBook for Mac) and I specially bought this for my Macbook Pro and my XBOX One. However when i tried connecting it, my Xbox One doesnt recognize it at all. This unit does have USB 3.0 but still doesnt recognize it.

Install virtualbox on mac. You just buy the drive, and plug in a single cable. (Plus possibly an AC adapter, as well.) If the XOne can support any EXT Hard drive with USB 3.0 and a capacity of 256GB or larger, why can't it support mine?

I know mine is a 'Mac' one, but it says it can support ANY one. Thanks in advance! EDIT - Forgot to mention - I did a factory reset of my Xbox twice with no luck as this was one of the popular ways to fix the problem • • • • •. I have a 4TB drive and remember that it took a few minutes to detect it, and it still does. Even with it permanently connected, the xbox will boot up, I'll be playing a game from the external hard drive, and it will still show a notification that my hard drive is connected and ready to use. You can try sitting in the 'Manage Storage' settings waiting for it to pop up, but if it never does than you may have to return it. Also, the 'Mac' part of the hard drive just means that it was formatted as an HFS+ (Journaled) partition in the factory.

Other than that it's the exact same thing as a standard MyBook.
